The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked Fuel Authority of India Limited (GAIL)’s Director (Marketing and advertising) E S Ranganathan in a bribery scandal involving the sale of petrochemicals produced by GAIL at a price cut. A CBI statement reported, that the investigative company performed searches at the premises of the accused at Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Panchkula, and Karnal amid other folks. This led to the restoration of approximately Rs eighty four lakh so much which involves restoration of Rs 75 lakh from a Gurgaon-based private particular person.
The other accused in the scenario are Pawan Gaur (a private particular person), Rajesh Kumar (director of Rishabh Polychem, Delhi), N Ramakrishnan Nair (a Gurgaon resident), Saurabh Gupta (affiliated with United Polymer Industries, Panchkula), and Aditya Bansal (affiliated with Bansal Businesses, Karnal). CBI reported that these 5 accused have been arrested in this scenario until now. United Polymer Industries and Bansal Businesses have also been named in the CBI’s initially facts report (FIR).
CBI also reported that searches have been continuing at the premises of Ranganathan.
The CBI has alleged that Ranganathan was “indulging into corrupt and illegal pursuits in conspiracy with other accused who have been acting as his intermediary, by obtaining bribe from the private companies buying petrochemical items promoted by the GAIL.”
CBI reported that it laid a trap and apprehended a private particular person and a Director of a Private Corporation based in Delhi with an alleged bribe total of Rs 10 lakh which was collected on behalf of Ranganathan.
In accordance to the CBI’s FIR, the GAIL Director (Marketing and advertising) experienced demanded a bribe of Rs fifteen lakh for issuing the price cut get in favour of the beneficiary companies.
