Philippine Military Plane Crashes, Killing Dozens

MANILA—A Philippine air drive C-130 plane carrying fight troops assigned to struggle Muslim militants crashed and exploded when landing in the south Sunday, killing at least forty two military troopers on board and a few civilians on the floor in a single of the worst disasters in the air force’s background.

At least forty nine other troopers were being rescued with accidents and survived the fiery noontime crash into a coconut grove outside the Jolo airport in Sulu province, including some who managed to leap off the plane in advance of it exploded and was gutted by fire, army officials said. Three of seven villagers who were being hit on the floor died.

The plane experienced 96 folks on board, including a few pilots and 5 crew when the rest were being military staff, the army said, introducing that 5 troopers remained unaccounted for late Sunday. The pilots survived but were being critically injured, officials said.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules was a single of two ex-U.S. Air Pressure plane handed over to the Philippines as section of army assistance this year.

The plane at first took off from Manila with only a several passengers, including a two-star military standard, Romeo Brawner Jr., who disembarked with his wife and a few small children in Cagayan de Oro metropolis, the place he is established to turn out to be the new army regional commander on Monday. The military troops then boarded the C-130 in Cagayan de Oro for the flight to Sulu.
