Have you always had the dream to become an author, then this blog will come in handy for you! As you might’ve noticed, writing a book isn’t as easy as you originally thought it would be. There are a lot of different aspects you have to think of and if you don’t fully take care of these, your book might be nothing more than a waste of time. To help you, we’ll give you four steps you can take to successfully write your book. Get that pen on paper immediately!
1. Build your story
Many writers want to write their story from start to finish, sometimes without even knowing the end to their own book. This of course is a very ideal scenario, but it can be incredibly hard to pull this off successfully. Something that we suggest, is first writing down the idea of your story. What happens in what chapter? What characters are part of your story and what makes them unique? Will there be a twist? If you have the answers to these questions already, writing a complete story will be a lot easier for you, as you won’t have to make up a story on the spot any longer.
2. Ask for feedback
Now that you’ve started to write your story, it’s easy to get lost in your own ideas. This can lead to a couple of negative things: you can experience a writer’s block, but it’s also possible that you spend a lot of time in something that’s not what people want to read. The easiest way to prevent this from happening, is by asking feedback from peers, preferably people that like to read or to write as well. By doing this, you hear what people think of your story from a different perspective than yours, which might open up new worlds, not only for you but for your story as well.
3. Protect your content
Sharing your content is a beneficial part of a successful book, but it can also be dangerous, especially if you do this online. It could happen that someone really likes your story and wants to finish it themselves. If they succeed, you could spend a lot of time writing something that’s now being published by someone else. This won’t happen if you use brand protection: a service that makes sure you have copyright on your own content. By using this brand protection service, you’re able to ask for feedback without having to feel unsafe of your content being stolen or misused.
4. Publish your book!
Now that you’ve successfully written the story, it’s time to look for a publisher. These can be found left and right, but it’s very important that your publisher doesn’t only want to work with you, but that you can see yourself being happy here as well. Especially if you have the choice to work with multiple publishers, we suggest really going for the one that gives you the best feeling.
Good luck!
Now that you know how to write a book and how to successfully publish it, we wish you nothing but good luck. We hope to read your book as soon as possible!
