Govt targets 17 million tonnes mustard production by 2025-26

The Government plans to convey all-around nine million hectares of land beneath mustard cultivation and increase the manufacturing to all-around 17 million tonnes (mt) by 2025-26, in accordance to Shubha Thakur, Joint Secretary (Oilseeds), Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.

Talking at a webinar on ‘Mission Mustard 2025’, organised by Solvent Extractors’ Affiliation (SEA) of India on Friday, she reported that the regular standard area for five years from 2014-fifteen to 2018-19 was 5.9 million hectares and the manufacturing was all-around 7.7 mt.

Stating that the Government is setting an bold target for 2025-26, she reported likely by the success in the past, the area is expected to enhance to all-around nine million hectares and manufacturing to all-around 17 mt.

Rabi period
