Four-day International Spices Symposium to begin on Feb 9

Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Parshottambhai Rupala will inaugurate the International Spices Symposium – SYMSAC X on Tuesday. The digital symposium on spices as flavours, fragrances and purposeful meals will focus on innovations in the spices, aromatic crops and medicinal crops research sector.

Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary will be the visitor of honour at the digital celebration organised by the Indian Culture for Spices. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary Office of Agriculture Research and Education, and Director Normal of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), will also handle the function.

The four-working day symposium will witness the participation of delegates from different nations around the world. The Sugandha Bharathi award for superb contributions to spice research, and Sugandhasree Impressive Farmer award will be offered away at the celebration. The launch of SYMSAC-X Memento and SYMSAC-X Abstracts will also be held at the celebration.

The launch of a coverage paper on ‘Towards self-sufficiency in spices — Standing, vision and strategies’ and ‘ICAR-IISR at a look, a video profile about the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) will also be held in the course of the session.

Rattan Lal, Director from Ohio State University in the US, will deliver the keynote handle on ‘ Carbon sequestration for dietary security’.
