Farmers protest LIVE: Union says will accept nothing but rollback of 3 laws

Latest News LIVE updates: As the ongoing farmers’ agitation at Burari, Singhu and Tikri borders entered day 12, the Delhi Traffic Police today issued an advisory for commuters as multiple borders between Delhi and neighbouring states remained closed for traffic. The Delhi Traffic Police today issued a traffic alert closing the National Highway (NH) 44 on both sides in the national capital region. Commuters have been asked to take alternate routes via Lampur, Safiabad, Saboli borders and avoid Outer Ring Road, GTK road and NH-44.

As their fifth round of talks with farmer ended in a deadlock, the government proposed another meeting on December 9 with the representatives of protesting farmers and requested them to send back the elderly, women and children to their homes from the protest sites. The agitating farmers had on Friday announced a ‘Bharat bandh’ on December 8 and threatened to intensify their agitation and block more roads leading to the national capital if the government did not accept their demands.
