Atos wins R&D project with ESA to improve cybersecurity of satellite testing platforms

Paris, France, and Vienna, Austria – October five, 2021

Atos has been awarded a contract by the European House Agency (ESA) below ARTES C&G plan to create a product to boost the cybersecurity of Electrical Ground Guidance Devices (EGSE) platforms which take a look at the electrical system of satellites before they are getting launched.

As cyber risks no longer quit at terrestrial borders, Atos will aim on making systems that stop and counter cyber-assaults in search of to acquire regulate or to damage satellites or screening products during screening section. This requires spanning all systems to discover present and foreseeable future vulnerabilities, mapping all probable threats, developing new protection features, ensuring complete traffic encryption, guaranteeing interaction integrity, and continually monitoring the protection. Atos is the European leader in cybersecurity expert services with a world wide group of around 6,000 protection professionals and will use its expertise to ensure satellites are safe and secure.

Atos is delighted to add with ESA to this stage forward in shielding ESA satellites. This project represents a main problem for Atos as, right until now, electrical screening was operated offline in a shut and controllable environment – which did not involve any particular protection mechanisms. As practices evolve and distant operations are now performed on the internet from distant places, it is important to adopt ideal cybersecurity steps. In this course of action, a lot of long-set up distant protocols (SCPI, very simple telnet, PUS/EDEN) will have to be secured – which could have the affect of environment new standards across the whole EGSE industry.

“We are pleased to deliver our cybersecurity expertise to the satcom local community to secure the EGSE systems we have been developing and mastering for a lot of yrs. It is a serious honor to add to this evolution of the satellite industry.” explained Bruno Milard, VP, Head of Aerospace and Defense Electronics at Atos.

This project is co-funded by ESA and its success will provide the Satcom professional and institutional current market. More facts about the study project and about Atos’ solutions for electrical satellite screening
